Meiyazhagan - Man with truth as beauty

I recently watched a movie which was a poignant portrayal of mindsets! The lead actors are of two different mindsets.  A chance meeting between the two after 22 years, brings to light how their mindset has shaped their life, is the essence of the movie.

Because of a past misfortune, one actor stops believing in people, severs ties with them, harbors a grudge and is unable to let go. He rightfully justifies his feelings and lashes out at this acquaintance for asking him to let go and forgive. What happened with him was not forgivable and could never be forgotten. The people who had wronged deserved to meet the worst fate ever and any punishment meted out would not wash away their misdeeds. He refused to talk about them, meet with them and let go of the ill feeling he harbored against them. With his fixed mindset that people don’t change, he did not visit his own hometown for 22 years.

As they share about their past, the one with the grudge realizes that the other person had endured much more and far worse than himself. Yet, the other person was able to laugh it off, forgive them and move on. He did not grudge them, and neither did he stop believing in the possibility that they might change. Nothing is the same forever. He started off as a nobody and because of good done by others to him, he has come a long way. Most of the good that came his way was from people who he could never repay. His growth mindset made him capitalize on the good that came his way, continue to do good to those who were not as fortunate as him and leave the wrongdoers to their own fate.

The fixed mindset person is awestruck by this friend of his and begins to want to become more like him, laughing, innocent and living in the moment.
