I will end the short series of yoga and other therapies which are a part of holistic healing, with a mention of chair yoga.
Unlike EFT and laughter therapy, this does involve physical effort, it is more difficult than tapping or laughing! I am practicing chair yoga for 5 months now, and I can vouch for its effectiveness. I find it less stressful than the traditional yoga. Mainly because my sciatica used to get activated when performing some asanas, like Tree pose, or Tadaasana.
In chair yoga the comfort of the chair gives me a psychological safety and in the you tube link I follow, the teacher, Lee, rarely has any videos lasting more than 20 minutes. The regular yoga, even Habuild is for 40-45 minutes, and I barely manage to keep myself active or enthusiastic for that long. The physical tension, and the length of each session were the key deterrents for me, for starting and slowly ending my yoga journey many times in the past. The other reason was the very subtle effect yoga has, and nothing is perceptibly visible for a long time! My impatience gets the better of me, and I feel very discouraged.
I started Chair yoga and intermittent fasting at the same time, and I am now noticeably thinner. I don’t look jaded or tired, I just look more in shape and healthy. I have not given up on sweets, which was the common suggestion offered to me, whenever I asked for tips to lose weight fast. I continue to enjoy eating what I like, and I have no plans of giving up anything either.
The only change I did make is that I have switched over to making desserts with only dates, honey or jaggery whenever I make desserts at home, no sugar anymore. If I buy anything or when sweets make their way into our house via generous loving friends, I gorge on them with impunity.
That’s the reason I wanted to mention Chair yoga😊, for anyone lazy yet ambitious like me, chair yoga with intermittent fasting has helped me lose weight. So, I recommend it.
